Haiti Service Journey

Ripples of Hope partners with Summits Education to further their mission of building education systems in rural Haiti to meet the needs of the whole child. Summits operate a network of 40 primary schools in the remote mountains of Haiti's Central Department, the region with the lowest literacy rate in the Western Hemisphere. Most families in the Central Plateau are subsistence farmers and live on less than $2 dollars per day.

The Ripples collaboration includes:

  • Cultural experiences with groups of ambassadors to learn firsthand about the Summits Educational program to build financial support.
  • In 2019 Ripples volunteered with Summits and local professionals to co-lead a summer camp for 300 students from the 40 school network. The focus of the camp was on vocational training, arts, mindfulness and celebrating the music, culture and finding their voice.
  • Pad Project: Ripple’s launched pilot program to introduce and distribute sanitary pads for girls in the Summits Education system. Provided training scholarships for school educators to train staff and students on how to cut and sew pads.

Jacmel, Haiti - January 2010

"We can do no great things, only small things with great love."
– Mother Theresa

After the devastating January earthquake in Haiti, many people have asked the question "How can they help?" In response, Ripples of Hope sponsored several fundraising efforts including, "The Combit Collective" which was led by children to support the Jacmel area.

We remain committed to helping the people of Haiti and will continue to seek ways in which we can partner with local organizations to offer our support in helping to rebuild communities.
